The first time we met
The two first met at first year orientation at Onderstepoort in a lecture hall. Damon was sitting behind Caitlin and was highly intrigued by a yellow, felt bug she was carrying around. Caitlin explained that this was her Kasparus, named Jock, a tradition of her first year residence, Klaradyn. The first years had to carry these little guys around during orientation and introduce them to anyone interested. Damon and Caitlin's friend groups amalgamated over the years forming the infamous "Cool Kids". Over the next 3 years Damon and Caitlin grew closer as friends through many classes, socials, sporting events and double brandies.
Our first date
Damon eventually plucked up the courage to ask Caitlin out on a date. He took her to Kream, a fine dining restaurant in Pretoria (far above his student budget - thanks Dad), hoping to woo her with fancy food and too much hair gel. After a few dates and a sokkie or two, Caitlin agreed to be his girlfriend. Their relationship went from strength to strength with both Damon and Caitlin getting along famously with their partner's parents. After surviving long-distance during and COVID during their community service year they ventured to the eutopia that is Colchester. They fed their wanderlust, exploring the world together.
Our marriage proposal
After enduring two knee surgeries, Damon's knee finally gave way and he proposed to Caitlin on the cliffs in Morgan Bay on 26 December 2022, disguising the proposal as a family photoshoot. Damon's mom helped him organise the ring after he asked for Uncle Wayne's blessing at a private tasting at the Jameson's Whiskey factory in Dublin. After what felt like an eternity to Damon, Caitlin said the easiest yes of her life and the two were now happily engaged.
Jackson
The two made the stereotypical next step and decided it was time to become (cat) parents. They adopted a cat named Jax (now Jackson/Toot/Lood) after he was attacked by a fox and brought to their work on death's door. His uncle Ryan did a wonderful job of fixing him up in theatre. As their love for him grew, so did his belly. He is now an indispensable part of the Knoop-Williams household and is much adored by the Colchester Clan
